Analysing film poster -Super 8

The typical codes and convections of film posters are the catching image of two children, the title of film, tag line, the production blurb, and the names of well known people.
The genre of the film is sci-fi, Mystery, Thriller; the use of light and dark colours like darkish blue and black has an effect of a mysterious coming this reflects to the genre. The location of the film being lifeless and lonely reflects to mystery and something unexpecting coming, the children body language seem like they are looking up at something this express the genres of the film.
The children on the poster gives the impression of the audience approaching they must be the main characters and the heroes of the film, has it illustrates on the poster the two children who both seem to be friends have discovered the ‘super 8’ which seem to be rather a mystery pending.
The title has been designed this way named as ‘Super 8’  this reflects the old style of making a film when  the 8mm video camera was used making a film. This has an effect of the audience suspecting the main characters might be making a film in the movie on something ‘super’.
The two children on the poster are represented as two close best friends as it illustrates on the poster they are close and both fascinated at the same thing since they both appear to be looking up at the same direction. Children most likely will be stereotyped as people that love to discover news thing and be on an adventure.
The film appears to be set on the streets in the middle of the road as has it illustrates on the poster this suggests the genre is Sci-fi, horror and mystery reflecting to the bad things plus supernatural things that could happen on the streets. The setting suggests the storyline must be something which is approaching since it set in the middle of the road, similar to a car approaching on the road. The dimmed light and soft light used in the setting has an effect of storyline seeming like there is no hope, though something is imprecise and is hidden.
Children will be interested to go see this film. The director J.J Abram is famous for his good hard work in the genres of science fiction, action, and drama. This makes the film having a unique selling point because of the director being well known.
The Paramount Pictures is the film company of ‘Super 8’. Paramount has produced several films such as ‘A thousand words’ and ‘Superman’.

Advert explanation

The ideologies attached to my advert are the two models (young teenagers), the brand’s logo of the product and the PSP Sony (product) which is portable, enables the user to carry it wherever, it contains multi-media capabilities, it can access to the internet (Wi-Fi), can play games, music, watch videos, access to camera, and has large viewing screen.

My advert shows it appeal to both genders, which is likely for trendies, puritans’ teenagers, by using both a young teenager boy as well as a girl to advertise the product, this has the effect of immediately grabbing the target audiences’ attention (teenagers boys and girls) to gaze at the advert and desire them to buy the product.

In my advert I have addressed and related to love/belonging and esteem in term of Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs.

My advert uses anchorage, warm/fuzzy and beautiful people as persuasive techniques to appeal to the audience. Using ‘anchorage’ which is BE IN YOUR WORLD’ fixes the sense of the image. ‘warm/fuzzy’ used as a persuasive technique in my advert makes the audience feel welcome, and ‘beautiful people’ used in my advert has the effect of the audience assume they will look as nice as them, if they buy the product.

My models are represented as teenagers that enjoy having fun; playing video games and liking to be in their own world and puritans who have felt they have done their duty.
